
Dementia Learning Event
The full day event, which is free of charge, is led by UK dementia experts Sue Brewin and Su Burns, and will help you to:
ï?§Identify key differences between the various types of dementia.
ï?§Discover ways to build positive relationships with people that have dementia.
ï?§Understand and overcome common barriers to communication with people that have dementia.
ï?§Recognise the impact dementia has on the senses to improve person-centred care.
The event will be in English and will use lay terms – no prior specialist knowledge or experience is required to enjoy the day.
Our day begins at 1000 and concludes at 1600. There is no registration fee for this event and will include a light lunch and refreshments.

About the trainers
Sue Brewin:
Sue is a trainer with over twenty years of experience in dementia. She has conducted research into dementia care and has developed and delivered training courses to help carers and people diagnosed with dementia. She is working on writing a course that the Alzheimer’s Society are developing with the Royal Society for Public Health called Understanding Dementia.
Su Burns:
Su is a full-time trainer and has worked for a dementia charity for over twenty years. Su co-wrote and delivers the Champions in Dementia programme and also researches and develops new training material. At the moment she is also working with an organisation called Arts 4 Dementia, delivering training for arts facilitators.
