O webinar “Preventing Dementia – a challenge for healthcare professionals,” organizado pela Alzheimer Portugal, com o apoio da empresa PPD, decorrerá no próximo dia 21 de junho, das 14h00 às 16h00 (a língua do evento é o inglês).
Embora a investigação refira que é possível prevenir ou retardar até 40% dos casos de Demência e existam modelos preditivos destinados a identificar e monitorizar o risco individual, o facto é que a informação sobre os fatores de risco modificáveis e respetivas estratégias para evitar o desenvolvimento da Demência ainda não está suficientemente divulgada entre os profissionais de saúde, sendo estes agentes fundamentais para aumentar a literacia das comunidades e os consequentes ganhos em saúde.
Assim sendo, considerou-se da maior importância realizar este evento, dirigido a profissionais de saúde portugueses e de outros países europeus, o qual contará com a participação e contributo de investigadores que desenvolvem um trabalho, nesta área, de reconhecido mérito a nível internacional.

The webinar “Preventing Dementia – a challenge for health professionals,” organised by Alzheimer Portugal, with the support of the company PPD, will take place on the 21st of June, from 2 pm to 4 pm (the language of the event is English).
Although research indicates that it is possible to prevent or delay up to 40% of cases of Dementia and there are predictive models designed to identify and monitor individual risk, the fact is that information about modifiable risk factors and respective strategies for preventing the development of Dementia is still not sufficiently publicised among health professionals, and these agents are fundamental to increase the literacy of communities and the consequent gains in health.
Therefore, it was considered of the utmost importance to hold this event, aimed at health professionals from Portugal and other European countries, which will have the participation and contribution of researchers who carry out work, in this area, of internationally recognised merit.
